讲座简介:Finite element method is one of the most widely used methods in science and engineering. The present talk will focus its applications in nonlinear interactions of water waves and floating bodies. The first part will cover the basic principle of the methods, including discretisation, shape function, weighted average, local matrix, global matrix, bandwidth etc. This will be followed by detailed examples of mesh generation and wave/body interaction problems, including structured mesh based (1) 2D floating body in force motion, (2) 2D resonance problems, (3) 2D solitary wave problem, (4) 3D sloshing problem, and unstructured mesh based (1) 2D wave maker problem, (2) 2D wave radiation by a wedge shaped body, (3) 3D large amplitude motion of cylinders and a floating FPSO, (4) 3D wave radiation problem by non-wall sided cylinder, (5) 3D second order wave diffraction by an array of cylinders, (6) 3D wave radiation problems by an arrange of cylinders.

主讲人简介:吴国雄教授,我校讲座教授。1982年本科毕业于上海交通大学船舶与海洋工程系,1984年和1986年在University College London分别获得船舶与海洋工程专业硕士和博士学位。现任英国伦敦大学教授,英国船舶系统研究组成员、英国劳氏教育基金会首席专家;多年来,对流体力学进行了广泛的研究,尤其是对流体力学的工程应用进行了深入的研究。2010年成立了由UCL、上海交通大学和哈尔滨工程大学组成的深水工程及水动力学国际联合研究中心,是该研究中心的首席教授。
